Theater class opportunities coming up

A Summer Readers Theatre Class, which will run July 31 to Aug. 28.

The class will be every Thursday 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. No experience is necessary. Classes will be held at the Hillsboro Community Senior Center, 750 S.E. Eighth Ave., in collaboration with the Walters Cultural Arts Center.

For Hillsboro residents, the class is $54; for non-residents it’s $66.

‘Fools’ auditions in July

HART Theatre is holding auditions for Neil Simon’s “Fools,” directed by Steve Kelsey. Auditions are at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, and at 7 p.m. Monday, July 14.

Those auditioning will be performing cold readings (no monologues). The auditions are hosted in the open call format. No appointments are necessary. A photo and resume is helpful but not required. HART Theatre is located at 185 S.E. Washington St. in Hillsboro.

Wednesday activities kick off at museum

The Washington County Museum will start hosting “Museum Wednesdays” for young people this summer, starting July 9. Every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m., kids can pick up a passport that will guide them through activity stations designed around current exhibits.

Activities will include games, crafts, scavenger hunts and imaginative play.

The programs are free with the price of admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
