Was there any better place to spend the Fourth of July than in Lake Oswego?

The Millenium Concert Band set the stage for Independence Day with a concert Thursday night in Millenium Plaza Park that honored military veterans. On Friday morning, more than 3,000 pancake lovers lined up in George Rogers Park for the Lake Oswego Lions Club’s traditional flipping of the flapjacks.

After breakfast, crowds lined A Avenue to watch Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, a Dixie jazz band and more march in the Star Spangled Parade. There were 45 entrants in all, not including the hundreds of happy children who joined in the festivities.

Fireworks filled the sky over Oswego Lake on Friday night. And on Saturday, the celebration continued with the Lake Corporation’s annual Ski and Wakeboard Competition and the Portland Waterski Spectacular.

It was a spectacular weekend, and Review photographer Vern Uyetake was there to capture it all.
