Beavercreek man charged with manslaughter, bail set at $1 million
A Beavercreek man is currently being held in the Clackamas County Jail with a $1 million bail after detectives found the deceased body of a Molalla man with a gunshot wound to his chest Monday night.
Howard. D. Bunnell, 47, of Beavercreek, was booked on charges of Manslaughter 1 and Unlawful use of a Weapon after police responded to a 911 report of a domestic violence disturbance at 17380 South Buckner Creek Road in Beavercreek, where he is reportedly a resident, around 7:33 p.m. on Aug. 21.
Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit detectives and members of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit were deployed to the scene to investigate.
Deputies found the body of a deceased man, Alvin E. Wallenstein, 45, of Molalla, with a gunshot wound to his chest, which the Medical Examiner's Office determined to be the cause of death during the autopsy on Aug. 22.
According to a report from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the 911 caller told dispatch that two males had been fighting and that one was unconscious. As deputies were on their way to the scene, the caller also reported that a female and male on scene were performing CPR on the unconscious subject, who was later identified as Wallenstein.
Detectives continue to interview witnesses and collect evidence at the crime scene, a multi-acre property in rural Beavercreek accessible by two long gravel driveways, according to the police report.
