Baseball: The Class A Hillsboro Hops open a five-game homestand and series with the Spokane Indians. Game one starts at 7 p.m. at Ron Tonkin Field. ... The Tri-City Dust Devils visit the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in another Northwest League game. First pitch at Volcanoes Stadium in the opener of a five-game set is at 6:30 p.m.
College womens soccer: Warner Pacific plays at Menlo in Atherton, Calif., 11:30 a.m.
College volleyball: Warner Pacific takes part in the Super Scrimmage at Pacific University in Forest Grove, 9 a.m.
Aug. 20, 1941: Rich Brooks (age 73). Its Rich Brooks Field at Autzen Stadium, an honor bestowed on the former Oregon Ducks football coach, who was head coach in Eugene from 1977-94. Brooks also guided the NFL St. Louis Rams in 1995-96 and the Kentucky Wildcats from 2003-09. He is a member of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.
Aug. 20, 1944: Scott Eaton (age 70). The former Oregon State defensive back from Medford made the New York Giants as an eighth-round pick in 1967, then played five seasons with the NFL club, intercepting 11 passes.
Aug. 19, 1987: Patrick Chung (age 27). A former UO defensive back and native of Kingston, Jamaica, Chung has been in the NFL since 2009 and currently is on the roster of the New England Patriots.

The Portland Timbers honor their original players at PGE Park and manage a 1-1 draw with the Seattle Sounders in a United Soccer Leagues First Division game. Attendance is 8,242. A halftime ceremony salutes Timbers from 1975-82, along with the teams first owner, John Gilbertson. Players from that era on hand include Tony Betts, Willie Anderson, Jimmy Kelly, Mick Hoban, John Bain, Jimmy Conway, Bernie Fagan, Brian Gant and Bill Irwin.
