In a Northwest League South Division showdown Friday night at Ron Tonkin Field, Eugene scored in the top of the seventh inning and beat the Hillsboro Hops, 2-0.
Eugene won the short series, 2-1.
The Emeralds are tied with the Boise Hawks for the division lead with 16-13 records. Boise won 3-2 at Salem Keizer (13-16) on Friday.
Hillsboro is third in the division at 15-14.
Eugene's first run came on a wild pitch. Jhonny Bethencourt followed with an RBI double.
The Ems finished with seven hits; the Hops had five.
In the Hillsboro ninth, Pavin Smith walked with one out, but the next two batters popped out to the catcher and flied out to left field.
Starter Tyler Keele (2-2) took the loss, after giving up two runs on six hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings. He fanned three.
Attendance was 4,049.
The Hops' next game is 7 p.m. Saturday at Vancouver. It's the first of five games in five days at the Canadians.
