Gresham's Weston KIA has donated $25,000 to the Gresham-Barlow School District to support teaching and learning in the state's 10th-largest district.
"We are so thankful for Weston KIA's support of our students and our schools," said Superintendent Jim Schlachter. "This donation will allow us to help more students be successful academically."
The check was presented to Schlachter on Friday, March 3, by Weston Kia Chairman Jan Weston, and Dave Hoopes, Weston KIA internal auditor, at a ceremony at the Gresham-Barlow district office next to Gresham City Hall.
"We are happy and grateful to be able to support our schools," said Weston.
The funds will be used to provide additional resources for the district's early kindergarten transition program and to bolster the district's credit recovery program for high school students who are not passing enough classes to graduate, the district said.
Weston KIA-Buick-GMC, 22309 S.E. Stark St., has served East Multnomah County for more than 42 years.
The Gresham-Barlow School Board plans to honor Weston KIA at the Thursday, March 9, school board meeting.
