Newspaper Advertising Sales Representative

We’re looking for a bright, personable individual to join our fun and fast-paced retail advertising sales team. We are hoping to find the person who enjoys both phone and face-to-face interface with customers. Someone who is a problem solver and works well with small, local businesses. And, because we are always growing, we’re looking for someone who is not turned off by cold calling and enjoys meeting new people daily.

This job requires an organized individual with computer skills, creativity for ad development, math ability for creating proposals for customers, great presentation skills and a desire to succeed. A positive attitude is half the battle in sales. Ideally, we would prefer some media sales experience, but retail sales, business-to-business sales and/or telemarketing experience might be acceptable. We are willing to train the right person.

The Beaverton Valley Times and The Times, serving Tigard, Tualatin and Sherwood, are looking for a full-time editor. The editor should have a calm demeanor, ability to juggle numerous projects while meeting deadlines, strong editing, organizational and public relation skills, an ability to coach reporters, an understanding of the value of community journalism and the willingness to coach and inspire a motivated staff. The Beaverton Valley Times is looking for an enthusiastic, full-time reporter interested in writing for a suburban weekly newspaper. This reporter would cover the Beaverton community, which offers a rich array of interesting stories to delve into from breaking news, features and profiles to investigative, enterprise stories and government reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in journalism or related fields and newspaper reporting experience. Strong writing and editing skills are a requirement, as is the ability to meet deadlines and manage several projects at one time. Circulation Sales Manager

The Circulation Sales Manager will work with our circulation team to increase subscription sales and community visibility for Community Newspapers utilizing a variety of sales and promotional techniques.

This position will include management of a small community outreach sales force. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to work in a fast paced environment to achieve goals and meet deadlines. The ability to build strong community relationships is a must in this position. You will work out of our Clackamas corporate office while also traveling to our newspaper communities.
